Tim's Notes: Whitetails of Buffalo County, Wisconsin

Hunting Style: You'll be stand hunting along the oak bluffs of Buffalo County in some of the worlds best deer country for monster whitetails. Food plots and pinch points are well photographed with trail cams and scouted by the guides for your success. If your a deer hunter, this is a traditional way of hunting big bucks but only in an area they are managed for age and size. A minimum of 140 inch B&C size bucks and on up is what to expect. There's lots of deer. Your guide will drop you off and pick you up daily. Lots of room to hunt. Some of the farms are rested anually. Wait till you see the rubs! You can have your own farm
to yourself while hunting. Expect to see multiple shooters durring the rut. Must kill a doe first. In 2009 I passed numerous big bucks while hunting a 220 inch deer. Never killed him but could have taken other P&Y deer. I will be back this fall. Stands are in place and often unhunted. It's big oak timber with corn and soy bean fields. Piles of deer.

Weather: Late September is warm and December can dip below zero.

Camp: The lodge is a bed and breakfast where you stay with your guides. Very nice with all the amenities. Lots of deer mounts decor, phone, TV, internet etc.

Food: Full time cook. Four course meals at night. Sack lunch in the stands if you hunt all day. Warm or cold breakfasts.

Guides: They know how to hunt big bucks. Young, mid 30s. Fun and serving to thier clients. Jokers. A little wild. My type.

Cost: Bow & Arrow $3000 and Rifle $2650 from Nov. 22nd to 30th (5 day hunt). plus tag. Limit 1 doe & 1 buck. A $500 deposit required to book your hunt.

Success Rate: 53 percent anual kill, with a 146 inch B&C average. Lots of misses.
