Tim's Notes: Florida Gators

Hunting Style: Gator hunting provides a wild look at the Florida vast swamp lands with birds, hogs, deer, fish and more to see than one can imagine. Hunting from an air boat you'll cruse up on spot lighted gators in hopes of finding one that will let you get close enough for the shot. Most are jugged and hooked first. You can choose. Private property hunts where you actually can shoot the gators without a hook are fun too. Clint nailed an 8 footer after missing a couple others. Once your into a big one hold on for dear life. They are strong and die hard! The family will enjoy the trip as would you and your buddies. Gator hunting may not last long so go while the getting is good. Every trophy room needs a gator. Bow or rifle hunts allowed.

Weather: Mild to cool. Your hunting at night so temps drop slightly.

Camp: Fully furnished lodge located in the Florida bush with all the amenities. Very nice and comfortable for man or woman.

Food: Full time cook. Four course meals at night. Ask for wild game in the menu. Warm or cold breakfasts.

Guides: They love to hunt gators and have guided many hunters to big ones anually. You'll be thrilled with their excitement for the hunt. If a wild hog cuts across the swamp, hang on for they loose thier mind.

Cost: Your total cost can range from 2000 to 5250 depending on the size of the gator you want and the style of hunting you want. A basic 8 to 10 foot gator cost 250 a day to hunt and 1300 when ya kill. More than often you'll kill within the first two days. Clint shot his on private property and it took 3 days but he missed two shots the first day.

Success Rate: 8 to 10 footers are over 90 percent. The bigger you want the less become your odds. They aren't stupid creatures.

Season Dates: Fall

Location: Okachobi Florida.
