Tim's Notes: Buffalo and Big Game Preserve

Hunting Style: This is a great family trip. Many hunters bring the family into the field while hunting from large ground blinds.Obviously there are no free range buffalo in the midwest anymore, thus these beast are contained by fence. Even so you will find an exciting hunt for buffalo where they once roamed on our ranch in Illinois. Plan a three day hunt for it's not as easy as you may think! You can spot and stalk the buff or stand hunt them near their feeding or waterring grounds from ground blinds od deer stands. Any wepon is legal including a spear. Most are shot with a gun. I spear one a year for its meat. Theres nothing like the rush of a 2000 pound animal bearing down on you. Be prepared! Elk,red stag and fallow can also be hunted.

Weather: Seasons are generally mild to 25 degrees.

Camp: You will stay in a Rustic yet fully furnished log cabin, set back in the hills near the Illinois River of this 1200 acre ranch. Wild turkey deer and black squirrel can be seen feeding in the front yard of your lodge. 40 acres of lakes ajoin the ranch and are full of fish for your enjoyment at no additional cost. It's a great get away spot for the entire family.

Food: Full time cook (my Dad). Four coarse meals at night. Fish and or your kill can be added to the menu. Warm or cold breakfasts.

Guides: Dave Wells or I will show you the way and if you are lucky it will be my dad. Be prepaired to make new friends and take home a beautiful trophy.

Cost: $2000 to $4500. depending on how big of a bull you want to kill. A 700 dollar deposit required to book your hunt.

Success Rate: 100 percent shot opportunity or no pay.

Season Dates: September to March depending your choice of hunt type. Elk are bugling heavy October 1.

Location: Canton Illinois
