Tim's Notes: New Mexico Antelope

Hunting Style: This is a slam dunk 3 day gun hunt and as always a bit more challenging for the bow hunter but a great spot to shoot a monster antelope. This
is where the 80 inchers live. You can spot and stalk or decoy these goats. I shoot most of my antelope spot and stalk but the decoy thing is fun. Decoying works well here because there is no hunting pressure to speak of. There are great watering holes here as well. This is private property, a do it yourself hunt. Antelope are pretty easy to hunt if you haven't tried it before. Bow hunters, dig a pit or set up a ground blind at a water hole and the rest comes easy. When spot and stalking just stay out of site for their vision is practically their only good defense. The guides will set you up then let you hunt on your own.

Weather: Bow season 30 degrees F to hot (100 degrees F plus). Gun season is cool to cold 20s.

Camp: Grab a hotel or camp with the animals.

Food: On your own.

Guides: Dan will show you where to hunt and give you some pointers, but for the most part the rest will be up to you.

Cost: Rifle hunt is $2650 but you can do it yourself for $2150.

Success Rate: 100 percent shot opportunity with a gun. To few have bow hunted to give a really good average. But if your avid, I'd say no problem..

Season Dates: Not set yet.

Location: South West New Mexico
